Pursuit of HappynessWhat movie are you going to see this weekend? What’s that? You don’t know? Well, we’re here to help.

In an effort to ease the decision-making process, thePeanutBloggery will compile a list of the films hitting theaters every Friday, along with a short synopsis–and possibly some off-color commentary. That said, here’s a rundown of films set for wide release this weekend:

The Pursuit of Happyness (PG-13)
Inspired by a true story, Will Smith and real-life son Jaden play a father and son struggling with unemployment and its unfortunate after effect, homelessness. After Smith’s appearance on Oprah and some favorable reviews, this is likely to become the hit of the weekend. And due to the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press saw fit to honor Smith with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, Pursuit is probably worth your time.

Charlotte’s Web (PG)
Who doesn’t love Wilbur? E.B. White’s beloved children’s classic comes to the silver screen by way of some cleverly computerized livestock and the charming Dakota Fanning. If you’ve got the kids in tow, this is the one to see.

Eragon (PG-13)
Eragon is Fox’s attempt at starting an uber film franchise based on a successful book–but not even the huge marketing push can make up for the film’s lukewarm critical reception. If you’re a huge fantasy fan, this one has the potential to disappoint. If you’re into CGI dragons, Eragon may be the movie for you.
