What I Watched: ‘Campus Ladies’ Is Not for the Prudish

I’m not usually one for watching estrogen-laden cable network Oxygen, but during the six days I spent with my family over the holidays, I took in more than my fair share. The draw? A pair of unwitting and hilarious middle-aged women otherwise known as the Campus Ladies.
Executive produced by Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Cheryl Hines, Ladies follows the exploits of two former housewives who, when finding themselves at the end of their respective marriages (one widowed and one the victim of an adulterous husband), decide to go back to college in order to make a fresh start–even going as far as moving on campus for the full, debauched experience.
Now in its second season, Ladies delivers layer upon layer of laughs in a style similar to Enthusiasm, but differs in its strict adherence to all matters related to the topics of sex, sex, and, well, sex. The show is crass, matter-of-fact, and unapologetic. All the more reason to love it.
Check out this clip for a taste of Campus Ladies. Warning: It’s not for the faint of heart–or the comically challenged.
Be sure to check out new episodes on Oxygen.
